If a post isn’t showing up on social media, there are a few common causes. This guide walks you through how to investigate and resolve the most frequent issues using the Post Overview and other tools within Apostle.

Step 1: Review the post in Post Overview

  1. Go to Post and Planning in the left-hand menu

  2. Click on the Post Overview tab

  3. Locate and open the relevant post

  4. Click the Ambassadors or Pages tab in the top-right corner

  5. Find the specific ambassador or page where the issue is occurring

Step 2: Investigate the Issue

1. Page connection is broken

Apostle relies on active connections to business pages. These may expire due to platform security rules.

  • Look for the yellow connection broken icon

  • The user receives a notification via email and in the platform to reconnect their page

  • To manually remind someone:

    1. Go to Members in the left-hand menu

    2. Click the Business Pages tab

    3. Find the relevant business page

    4. Click the Reconnect icon in the Actions column

Note: Connections sometimes need to be refreshed due to expired tokens or changes in permissions. Need help connecting? Check out our article here.

2. Error icon in the SHARED column

If a post fails to publish, you'll see an error icon in the SHARED column of the post details.

  • Hover over the icon to view the specific error

  • These errors come directly from the social media platform

  • For questions about the error, please contact support.

3. Post not accepted or shared by the ambassador

Ambassadors must approve or share the post for it to appear on their social media.

To check:

  • In the post details, look at the STATE column

  • If it says Pending, the post has not been accepted

  • Optional: Click the Remind icon (arrows) in the Actions column to send a follow-up

Users can accept posts via:

4. Post is scheduled in the future

Check the SUGGESTED ON column.

  • If the date is in the future, the post is still pending

  • Posts are shared only once the suggestion date has passed

⚠️ Important: If no Suggested On date is shown at all, please contact our support team right away. This may indicate the post was not scheduled correctly.

5. Media exceeds platform limits

Some platforms have restrictions for images and videos, including:

  • Maximum file size

  • Length and bitrate

  • Image dimensions

💡 Tip: The Apostle composer will show warnings if your content exceeds platform limits. Always review these before publishing.

Key takeaways

  • Refresh page connections: Broken connections need to be restored for sharing to work

  • Check ambassador actions: Posts require user approval or manual sharing

  • Verify scheduling dates: Posts are not shared before their suggested date

  • Review media limits: Large or unsupported media files can block publishing

By following these steps, you can resolve most post sharing issues. For further help, contact our support team.
