Sharing links is an important feature for many content creators. You want your audience to visit external sources and mostly your own website or a blog. In this article, you’ll learn the various ways of sharing links through Apostle and how to customize links to your own preference using our editor.
Apostle offers two ways of sharing links:
Sharing a link in a link block (recommended)
Sharing a link in the text with separate image(s) (perfect for posts with multiple links)
Sharing a link in a link block
This is the recommended way if you are only sharing one link in a post. These link blocks will always be clickable for your audience when hovering over the post (e.g. on Facebook or LinkedIn).
Go to Create Post and paste your link in the textfield.
A link block will be automatically generated with meta title and meta text. You can remove the link from the text if a link block has been generated.
[Optional] Hover your mouse over the image to change the meta image.
[Optional] Select the Edit button to change the meta title.
[Optional] Select the Edit button to add UTM codes.
Note: if you deleted the link block by clicking on the x icon, you can regenerate the link block by clicking the Link icon at the top of the composer.
Warning: Changing the meta title and image only works for LinkedIn. The other platforms will always share the original titles and images, even if you have changed them in Apostle.
Tip: Use our link shortener to shorten the link and track the clicks in the Insights. You can find the link shortener switch after clicking the Edit button behind the link.
Sharing a link in the text with separate image(s)
Links can also be shared as clickable text without an attached link block. It’s most common for posts with multiple links or if you simply don’t want to have an attached link block. You can follow these steps:
Go to Create Post and paste your link in the textfield.
A link block will be automatically generated with meta title and meta text.
Remove the link block by clicking the x icon on the top right of the link block.
The link block will now disappear, but the link will remain visible in the text field. You can also add multiple links in one post after removing the link block.
Now add an image/video to complete your post and start scheduling. The added images will not be clickable if you schedule it without a link block attached.
Warning: LinkedIn tends to remove the link for posts that end with a link and have no link block attached. You can circumvent this by adding a full stop and a space behind the link. It only applies to links at the end of the post.
Please note: It’s not possible to change meta titles and images for links that have no link block attached.
